Thank you Doug for coming
to see us at Ft. Myers FL

Doug Smith-Two year Breast Cancer Survivor!

As we tour the United States and Canada, we meet some amazing and inspiring people.  Our next stop was no different.  As we approached New OrleansNOLA, I couldn't help but wonder how people were doing.  Those whose chemo treatments had been postponed, the elderly, and those needing consistent care.  How did Katrina affect their pre-Katrina struggles and treatments?

Making a stop in New Orleans

On our drive back from Ft Myers we made a stop in NOLA to hug people we know and to witness firsthand what is really going on.  A small example of how things work: Our friend finally received plumbing in her FEMA trialer but the key didn't work.  Fema said someone would get back to them in 48-72 hours.  Now what room do you think they will stay in until then?

Photos below: these homes like many were 5-6ft in water for over two weeks.  Since the water was salt water, the vegetation took a hit as well.  All the beautiful magnolia trees have died.  As for the oak trees, they will know more in 2-3 years
